Mission Statement
At Psychologists and Counsellors Australia, our mission is to improve the lives of individuals with disability through the integration of psychology, clinical neuropsychology, and Positive Behaviour Support under the NDIS.
For Psychology and Clinical Neuropsychology: We will include individuals and their support networks as collaborative partners in the therapeutic process, by providing tailored assessments, therapeutic interventions, and cognitive strategies that are grounded in evidence and focused on real-world functioning, because everyone deserves access to psychological insights and supports that empower choice, promote participation, and build lifelong capacity.
For Positive Behaviour Support: We will include people with disability as active participants in their own behaviour support planning, by delivering personalised, evidence-based strategies that build capacity, reduce restrictive practices, and promote independence, because every person has the right to dignity, choice, and the opportunity to live a meaningful, connected life within their community.
Our approach
We are a team of Clinical Psychologists, a Clinical Neuropsychologist, Educational and Developmental Psychologists, and Registered Psychologists servicing Adelaide, Brisbane, Gympie, Gold Coast, Toowoomba, and Ipswich, dedicated to delivering high-quality mental health care across the lifespan.
As a registered NDIS provider, we offer comprehensive psychological services including assessments and therapy, as well as Positive Behaviour Support by qualified practitioners. Our assessments support a range of needs including NDIS access and reviews, aged care, Child Safety, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Specific Learning Disorders, and Intellectual Impairment.
We also provide specialised aviation psychology services for pilots, airlines, flight training organisations, and industry regulators. This includes mental health assessments for medical certification (Class 1 and 2), tailored confidential psychological support for pilots and crew, and post-incident support for critical events such as aviation accidents, near misses, or mental health disclosures. Our team understands the unique psychological demands of aviation and integrates clinical expertise with practical aviation knowledge to support safety, performance, and wellbeing in the industry. We are proud to be the brand behind Byron Waller – Teen Pilot Down Under, the youngest pilot at 14 years old to fly around Australia, and continue to assist in the development of his international aviation career.
Our therapeutic approaches are evidence-based and tailored to each client’s individual goals. Interventions include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Positive Behaviour Support Plans, Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT), Hypnotherapy, Counselling, and Coaching.
Treatment recommendations are always guided by your unique presentation and goals, in consultation with our experienced clinicians. Availability of services may vary by location.
Let us help you connect with a psychologist or behaviour support practitioner who best suits your needs - whether online or in-person.
