Guided by AHPRA, ACA & PACFA Standards

Why Choose Our Supervision Services?

  1. Compliance with Standards: Our supervision is structured around the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), Australian Counselling Association (ACA) guidelines, Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia (PACFA), ensuring you receive supervision and guidance that's in line with industry best practices.

    1. In Australia, the practice of psychology is regulated by the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). To become a fully registered psychologist, provisional psychologists need to undergo a period of supervised practice. As at August 2023, the following pathways to registration for provisional psychologists were recognised:

      1. 4+2 Internship Program (until 1 January 2029 due to retirement of pathway):

        • This pathway involves four years of academic study in psychology, followed by a two-year supervised internship.

        • During the internship, the provisional psychologist gains practical experience and completes regular supervision sessions with a board-approved supervisor.

      2. 5+1 Internship Program:

        • This pathway involves five years of academic study in psychology, culminating in an accredited Master’s degree. This is followed by a one-year supervised internship.

        • Like the 4+2 pathway, the internship year provides practical experience with supervision from a board-approved supervisor.

      3. Accredited Professional Programs:

        • This pathway involves completing an accredited postgraduate professional program, such as a Master's or Doctorate in clinical psychology, health psychology, and neuropsychology.

        • These programs integrate both academic learning and practical placements with supervision.

      4. Transitional Program for Overseas Qualified Psychologists:

        • For psychologists qualified overseas, this pathway allows for recognition and registration in Australia. It often involves additional training and/or supervision to ensure alignment with Australian standards.

Each of these pathways has its own specific requirements in terms of the amount and type of supervision, competencies to be demonstrated, and assessments to be completed.

  2. Build Competence & Confidence: Receive feedback and direction on case management, therapeutic techniques, and professional growth, ensuring that you operate at your potential.
